Capitol Police Officer Jerod Lemon, 42, was arrested last Monday and charged with five counts of possessing child pornography. Lemon faced his court date Tuesday, July 13, in Culvert County, MD, and is being held without bond.

The investigation into Lemon’s online activity began in December 2022, and the officer was relegated to administrative work while this investigation proceeded.

The United States Capitol Police issued a statement asserting that “Lemon will be suspended pending the outcome of the criminal case.” Lemon could potentially receive up to 25 years in prison for his sentence, or a $2,500 fine for each count.

The description of illicit sexual activity further ranges from storage of sex toys in Capitol Police property to nude photography to sexual propositions from authority figures.

In 2018, another USCP officer was charged with multiple crimes including rape and assault. All four of the officer’s victims were under 18.

In 2006, a Capitol Police Sergeant pleaded not guilty to a charge of child abuse after he was accused of videotaping himself having sex with a 15 year-old girl.

Roll Call states that “The allegations have sparked little action so far from Congress, which oversees the Capitol Police and allocates taxpayer funds for its operations.”

Lemon has served with the USCP since 2005.
