CDC Claims That Men Can ‘Chestfeed’ Infant Children

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s official website published advice for trans and non-binary individuals on seeking guidance on how to “chestfeed” their infants.

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) has decided that it’s healthy and normal for biological men who think they are women to ‘chestfeed’ infants. On the CDC’s website, on their section regarding breast surgery, one of the commonly asked questions is “Can transgender parents who have had breast surgery, breastfeed or chest feed their infants?”

The CDC answers that question with this statement: “Yes. Some transgender parents who have had breast/top surgery may wish to breastfeed, or chestfeed (a term used by some transgender and non-binary parents), their infants. Healthcare providers working with these families should be familiar with medical, emotional, and social aspects of gender transitions to provide optimal family-centered care and meet the nutritional needs of the infant.”

It is interesting to note that the CDC also talks about how women need to be cautious about breastfeeding while on medication because certain medications could be harmful to the infant. In fact, some women are ineligible to donate breast milk due to being on certain medications.

This only adds to the already accumulating pile of concerns in regard to biological men thinking that they can ‘chestfeed’ infants. Not only because it is biologically impossible for a male to produce the nutrients necessary to nourish an infant, but also because males who have undergone these ‘top surgeries’ are on several medications (mainly synthetic hormones) that would likely negatively impact an infant who ingests those secretions.

Dr. Jane Orient who is the Executive Director of the Conservative Association of American Physicians and Surgeons said that “doctors do not know the long-term side effects if a breastfeeding trans woman uses all kinds of off-label hormones."

Conservatives took to Twitter to fiercely criticize the CDC over this issue. One Twitter user known as Mrs. B Conservative made a post stating: "Chestfeeding" Guidance? What is going on at the CDC?? CDC’s advice encouraging biological men to “chestfeed” infants is DANGEROUS”

Sen. Roger Marshall, R-Kan. Rebuked the CDC harshly and said that the CDC has “absolutely lost its way” by insisting that it’s safe and normal for biological men to feed their chest secretions to infant children.

Many people, mothers in particular, are expressing concern that a government agency appears to be prioritizing ‘gender affirmation’ ahead of the health of infant children who require very specific nutrients in order to be healthy. It remains to be seen just how harsh the potential long term effects of biological men attempting to ‘chestfeed’ will have on America’s children.
